Birketts is a full service, UK Top 50 law firm. With a heritage spanning 160 years, we have more than 500 lawyers and legal professionals based in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Ipswich, London, Norwich and Sevenoaks. We advise businesses, government and public sector organisations and individuals in the UK and internationally across four principal practice groups: property, corporate services, litigation and private client advisory.
We are defined by our next level law proposition. We work with our clients as a proactive partner, horizon scanning and thinking ahead to the changes, challenges or opportunities that they may face.
Next Level Law is also applied to our people. Our collegiate culture means everyone is encouraged to achieve their next level in everything they do.
With our ambition to succeed, comes a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the communities we serve, and we are committed to delivering the objectives set out in our ESG strategy. Diversity plays an integral part in all that we do, with female partners comprising 40% of our partnership. |
Our vibrant, energetic Court of Protection team of lawyers is highly regarded in the region, specialising in all aspects of Court of Protection law, including contentious and non-contentious applications to the Court.
We provide straightforward, practical advice and have the skills and experience to ensure that the right decisions are made. We liaise with family, friends and professionals, and handle each situation with a high level of care and sensitivity. We deal with Court of Protection matters for severely disabled clients (including those with brain injuries and birth injuries) and manage large personal injury or clinical negligence awards. We also manage the affairs of many elderly clients living with dementia and mental health issues.
The team has many years of experience in Court of Protection law and is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about our subject. We also offer a professional deputyship and attorneyship administration service where we are appointed as deputies/attorneys in more complex cases or where there is no suitable person known to the incapable party who is able or willing to act. |
