Birketts is recruiting for an ambitious, driven and forward thinking fee earner, with experience in the property industry to come and join our growing team in our spacious Ipswich town centre office. You will join the highly successful Utilities Team which has nationwide clients throughout the UK and presently consists of 15 fee earners and 4 administrative support roles. We need to extend and recruit additional fee earners to take forward our ambitious plans for the future.
You will join a niche team who deal with conveyancing transactions for utility network operator clients. The team specialise in high volume, time-critical property transactions for IDNOs/DNOs, gas transporters, fibre providers, water incumbents, EV providers as well as assisting developer clients with their utility transactions.
As well as freehold and leasehold acquisitions of substations, gas governors, fibre cabinets and water pumping stations, the team deal with easements, variations and surrenders to actively manage their clients networks. |
To maintain a case load working on a wide variety of property transactions for utility companies or landowners involving the installation of utility pipes wires and cables for electric, gas fibre and water companies.
- Carrying out title due diligence, reporting on title including enquiries consent and registrations
- Updating and reporting to clients and intermediaries on transactional progress
- Land Registry searches, applications and requisitions
- Submitting searches and reviewing search results
- Raising and reviewing replies to enquiries
- Completing registration and post completion requirements
- Provide an efficient and friendly service to clients
- Obtaining indemnity policies
- Issuing and completing documents via DocuSign
- Play a key role in the growth and development of the Utilities team
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Contribute to thought leadership and sector focused marketing initatives

We are seeking an NQ Solicitor + with strong background in residential or commercial property, ideally with experience or a demonstrable interest in the utilities, infrastructure, or energy sectors.
You will be commercially astute, technically excellent, and confident in managing complex transactions and an enthusiastic team.
You will also be expected to:
- Play a key role in the growth and development of the Utilities team
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Contribute to thought leadership and sector-focused marketing initiatives
