The department

The Birketts Business Development (BD) and Marketing Team consists of over 30 people who are responsible for the firm’s Business Development, PR and Communications, CRM, Campaigns and Events, as well as tender and proposal management.

The team is based across each of the Regional Birketts’ offices (Ipswich, Norwich, Cambridge and Chelmsford) and we operate as one team across the firm, with areas of specialist focus, operating as an extension to our lawyer teams.

With the benefit of our professional qualifications, experience, knowledge of targets and our client base, we direct activity to support the firm’s strategic objectives; for all business development and marketing activity. We are KPI focussed, keen to measure and track activity and review return on investment.

Purpose of job

The role is to support the Business Development team with the coordination and production of marketing collateral and research to support business development activities and initiatives.

Marketing Materials / Collateral:

  • Driving coordination in the production of marketing collateral and maintaining this proactively and take on new collateral requests from across the team.

Legal directory submissions:

  • Responsibility for co-ordinating the production of the firm's annual legal directory submissions, guiding practice teams to ensure they submit on time and to a high quality standard to ensure continued high rankings and maintaining a database of client referees.

Research and business development:

  • Assisting the business development team to identify and research potential targets and update the CRM database as necessary.
  • Supporting the firm with the collation of information and entries of relevant award submissions.

Tenders, pitch and proposal documents:

  • Supporting the Pitch and Proposal team with the adhoc administrative/collateral requests linked to tenders or proposal documents.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of a proposals database for holding and sharing tender information.
  • Coordination role in ensuring SharePoint is up to date with current information to feed into Pitch Perfect.

Personal development:

  • As part of a team, investigating new ideas to differentiate Birketts in the market place.
  • Other business development duties/projects as and when required.
The candidate

This is a pro-active challenging role in a busy team, that requires strong attention to detail and accuracy, strong organisation skills and the ability to multi-task with a ‘can do’ approach. Actively seeks to assist on projects, with a diverse set of marketing skills.

  • An understanding of marketing and business development processes.
