The department

The wider Business Development (BD) and Marketing Team consists of over 30 people who are responsible for the firm’s Business Development, PR and Communications, CRM, Campaigns and Events, as well as tender and proposal management.

The team is based across each of the Regional Birketts’ offices (Ipswich, Norwich, Cambridge and Chelmsford) and we operate as one team across the firm, with areas of specialist focus, operating as an extension to our lawyer teams.

With the benefit of our professional qualifications, experience, knowledge of targets and our client base, we direct activity to support the firm’s strategic objectives; for all business development and marketing activity. We are KPI focussed, keen to measure and track activity and review return on investment.

Purpose of job

This is a multi-disciplinary hands-on role with a strong focus on supporting our Campaigns and Events Executives to assist the delivery of campaigns and events activities across our offices and other venue locations. You will need to be detail oriented and rigorous in updating activities and data to ensure that campaigns are supported to the highest standard. This is a pro-active challenging role in a busy team, that requires strong attention to detail and accuracy, strong organisation skills and the ability to multi-task with a ‘can do’ approach. Actively seeks to assist on projects, with a diverse set of marketing skills.

Accountabilities

Campaigns and Events

  • Fully supports the team on the coordination and project management of events, campaigns and sponsorships. Attends meetings in order to understand key objectives, making clear notes creating action plans.
  • Some knowledge of virtual events and webinar platforms is desired.
  • Duties will include; assisting in the production of project timelines, venue and catering booking, assembling invitation lists, preparing PowerPoint presentations, or other presentations, co-ordinating badges, table plans and hand-outs and providing front of house support at live events.
  • In conjunction with other members of the marketing team, providing ‘on the ground’ support for events and seminars, from time to time across all five offices.

Communications

  • Supporting the delivery of marketing campaigns including, social media planning, website updates and contributing to the planning of new campaigns.
  • A good creative eye and the ability to design and produce marketing collateral in the form of invitations, flyers, adverts, brochures etc.

Knowledge and database management

  • Ongoing capture, cleansing, maintenance and enhancement of data to support the firms CRM system as well as supporting data on clients, targets and intermediaries.
  • Support the preparation of reports, coordinating data lists for targeting purposes and both pre and post event data management. Ensure management of all events lists adhere to GDPR protocols.

Promotional goods, design and print

  • Fully adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Support the preparation of presentations and other marketing templates.
  • Proof read documents.
  • Support marketing collateral production of firm wide literature.
  • Source and manage promotional goods.
  • Support invoice processing adhering to the firms’ purchase order and marketing expenses processes.
  • Register of banners and display stand requirements and locations.

Marketing campaign measurement

  • Collate campaign & events feedback, uploading attendee information onto CRM system.
  • Supports coordination of accurate analytical reporting on marketing campaigns including open rates from email campaigns, attendee rates and post event follow-up reports.

Other

  • Fully support the team in the efficient delivery of business development and marketing campaign activity.
  • Builds strong working relationships with all teams.
  • Undertake other duties to meet the demands of the business.
  • Actively contribute to the team with ideas for business development and marketing activity

Qualifications/Experience
  • Events / marketing / campaigns background ideally gained within a professional services or corporate environment.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Desk top publishing skills in InDesign or similar.
  • IT Literate (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database skills).
  • Sound proof reading and copywriting skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel.
  • Knowledge of CRM or data management systems and their functionality.
