The department

You will join a highly successful, leading Corporate division, who are seeing substantial growth, resulting in the need for extra resource to take forward ambitious plans for the future.

Tier 1 Legal 500, our Corporate Finance specialists give first class legal advice, with a depth of resource and range of experience that allows us to successfully deliver a wide range of transactions - in value, complexity and commercial impact. We advise on all aspects of mergers, acquisitions and disposals, acting for sellers and buyers, management teams, and private equity and venture capital funds.

Our team is experienced in dealing with international transactions as well as UK deals, including acquisitions of overseas businesses and disposals of UK companies to international buyers. Many of our lawyers started their careers in other major domestic or international law firms, or have worked in industry. 

The Ipswich team is led by our Corporate Partner - Alex Nelson, with 2 further Partners, a Legal Director, 2 Senior Associates, 3 Associates, 2 Solicitors and Paralegals within the team. People skills are essential to this role, you will work with an incredibly ambitious and motivated team who work as 1 team and support each other in all corporate transactions.

Purpose of job

Birketts is now recruiting for an ambitious, driven and forward thinking Associate / Senior Associate and / or possible Legal Director. You will need a minimum of 4 years+ PQE within a Corporate background, where you will join our growing team on a full time permanent basis in Ipswich.

You will be expected to play an active role in marketing and practice development as well as providing a high level of service to existing clients.

  • Technically capable of running accounts on your own
  • Experience of working with either Corporate Transactions, Share Schemes, Asset Shares, Private Equity, Joint Ventures, Governance or Support Incentives.
  • Client relationship Management
  • Experience working with start up’s to large Corporate Accounts.
The candidate

You will need to have strong attention to detail skills to produce work/ documentation which is consistently of a high standard. You will have a flexible approach to work to ensure client deadlines are always met and clients are communicated with on a consistent and regular basis and an interest in and aptitude for business development.

Prior experience of a Corporate background is essential with good quality experience of either commercial, corporate or real estate finance.
